Speaking in Parliament on the 7th May 2024, West Dorset’s MP once again made the case for fairer rural funding allocations. The local MP called for the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Laura Trott, to review the ‘Green Book’ guidance to ensure fairness in rural funding allocations. Mr Loder has expressed his concerns that Dorset and the neighbouring counties are not receiving a fair share of Government funding.
Mr Loder said: “It’s critically important to continue advancing my campaign to ensure fairness from central Government when it comes to funding allocations. I’ve met with the Chancellor on several occasions to outline the challenges we face with a rural/urban disparity – funding is one element of this.”
He continued: “The Green Book is guidance issued by HM Treasury for evaluating and appraising where funding should be allocated. It’s clear that rural areas need greater recognition, and I will meet with the Minister to discuss what can be done to rectify this.”
