Suicide prevention organisations in Dorset are set to receive record Government funding to meet increased demand and support innovative prevention strategies. The £10 million fund aims to reduce the rate of suicide over the next five years, with funding allocated to those organisations working with priority groups, including children and young people, middle-aged men, and mothers.
Mr Loder said: “Every suicide is a tragedy, and this funding will go towards improving access to local services. It will help address those in need quicker, with more targeted and person-centred provision. Local and national organisations set to receive tens of thousands of pounds covering Dorset include Footprints Project Ltd; Place2Be; Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide; and Action on Postpartum Psychosis.”
He added: “It’s important support is available for those experiencing suicidal thoughts or approaching a mental health crisis. Early intervention to prevent people reaching these points is critical, and this funding will help achieve this.”
