Chris Loder, MP for West Dorset, has welcomed the introduction of the Media Bill to Parliament, which will enshrine into law modernised mission statements for public service broadcasters and the requirement to better represent audiences across the UK. The UK’s media landscape is currently governed by decades-old laws, which are in desperate need of reform.
Mr Loder, who has campaigned tirelessly for reforms to the UK’s public service broadcasters – BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 - said: “It’s about time for reforms to public service broadcasters. I’ve campaigned to ensure all our public service television and radio broadcasters provide much better coverage for West Dorset.”
He continued: “In a media landscape characterised by more streaming and on-demand services, it’s vitally important that our public service broadcasters are resilient and maintain their prominence. I’ll continue to hold our public service broadcasters to account, ensuring they are providing value of money for the taxpayer.”
