Chris Loder MP has welcomed news that his constituents, especially those who live in the north of his West Dorset constituency, are set to benefit from a new stand-alone community diagnostic centre adjacent to Yeovil District Hospital. Mr Loder recently attended an engagement event to meet with representatives from Somerset NHS Foundation Trust to understand how the new centre will benefit his constituents with quicker access to diagnostic tests.

Construction on the new centre is scheduled to begin in spring next year and will be completed by winter 2024. It will be open seven days a week and will provide more than 70,000 diagnostic tests and outpatient appointments each year. Speaking about the announcement, the local MP said:

“This is fantastic news for people living in West Dorset. Once completed, the Yeovil Diagnostic Centre will provide vital diagnostic support in a range of areas, including radiology, endoscopy, cardiology, and audiology, helping to identify conditions early and reduce NHS waiting times.”

“The announcement means that, as early as next year, those living in the north of West Dorset will rightly have access to state-of-the-art healthcare. It follows the development in the south of the constituency at Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester, where a new Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit is under construction.”
