KITT HILL REOPENS ON 6th APRIL 2023
Sherborne’s local MP Chris Loder has welcomed the news that Kitt Hill in Sherborne is to be re-opened on the 6th April after the damaged wall at the centre of the long-running issue has been fully rebuilt.
Mr Loder, who has campaigned since February last year to resolve the situation, has welcomed the news. Mr Loder said:
"The work is done and is now in the hands of the Council to open the road.”
The Kitt Hill portion of the A30 has been partially closed for over a year since a lorry crashed into the wall of a property next to the road in February 2022. Mr Loder has been proactive in mediating between the property owners, insurers, the Council and other stakeholder groups after complex circumstances resulted in the situation becoming protracted and difficult. Mr Loder continued;
“I would like to praise in particular the strength and courage of the elderly property owners who got this work done after a year of unimaginable stress and personal anguish, but who are now faced with enormous Bills from the Council to pay for traffic lights. I will be supporting them every step of the way from now on and I hope the public will be too.”
