Chris Loder, MP for West Dorset, visited Bridport Community Hospital on the 15th September, ahead of a £200 million nationwide investment by the Government to boost resilience in the NHS this winter. Mr Loder was given a tour by Dawn Dawson, Chief Nursing Officer at Dorset Healthcare, and Damien Kendrick, Service Manager at the Hospital.
Speaking about his visit, Mr Loder said: “It’s been brilliant to spend today at Bridport Community Hospital, meeting so many of the dedicated staff from the Minor Injuries Unit, and the community nursing; mental health; elderly and social care; and radiology and physiology teams. I’m extremely grateful for the work that Hospital staff continue to provide residents in the west of the constituency.”
He continued: “To support staff and patients, the Government has announced a £200 million package for vital NHS services throughout the upcoming peak months, which will help to protect elective care and reduce waiting lists. Bridport Community Hospital was opened in 1996 and we are fortunate to have such a variety of specialisms, along with a 24-bed ward at the site – which played a vital role during the Covid pandemic and which continues to support patients.”
