Chris Loder MP has secured a new cash deposit service for Lyme Regis, following high-level discussions with the cash regulator, LINK. The local MP has previously warned against Lyme Regis becoming a ‘cash desert’, with limited banking and access to cash facilities available for residents and tourists. Mr Loder has committed to do all he can to restore services in the town.
Mr Loder said: “It’s excellent news that Lyme Regis will receive a new cash deposit service, following my efforts to improve cash access in the town. I expressed my concerns to the cash regulator – LINK – that there was little in the way of cash facilities for the town, especially given the fact that the population can treble in peak tourist seasons.”
He continued: “The new deposit service will be delivered by Cash Access UK, and will ensure that local businesses and consumers can deposit cash in a way that is more convenient for them. The exact details of the deposit service will be confirmed in the coming months, and I will be sure update my constituents about this.”
