Chris Loder, MP for West Dorset, visited Thorncombe Village Shop on the 3rd November to meet with customers, volunteers and new manager, Marie Humphries. The community-run Shop, which opened in 2009, relies on a team of 52 dedicated volunteers. Each volunteer provides hours of support to ensure the Shop is a success.
Mr Loder said: “It’s always great to visit Thorncombe Village Shop, which continues to provide a vital service for the local community. The Shop’s success is a testament to each of the hard working, dedicated volunteers; it’s new manager, Marie; and Chairman, Anne Johnson-Rooks.”
He continued: “The Shop isn’t just a place to for shopping, as the volunteers run excellent breakfasts for the community on the first Saturday of every month, and home-cooked lunches on a Tuesday. I’ll always support Thorncombe Village Shop and urge anyone who hasn’t yet been make a visit!”
