Chris Loder, MP for West Dorset, has saved the day with his intervention to protect and reopen the only Post Box in Bradford Abbas. Royal Mail had sealed up the Post Box earlier in November, leaving local residents without any way to send their letters. As soon as the decision was taken, Mr Loder wrote to Royal Mail demanding the decision be reversed.
The local MP said: “Royal Mail’s decision to remove the only Post Box in Bradford Abbas was short-sighted, but I’m glad following my intervention that a replacement Post Box is to be installed as close to the War Memorial as possible. This is expected to happen within the next 12-16 weeks.”
He continued: “I have been advised that postmen and postwomen delivering to addresses in the Bradford Abbas area are more than happy to collect mail bearing the appropriate postage directly from residents. If any residents of Bradford Abbas require any clarity or further information on this, then please do contact me.”
