West Dorset MP Chris Loder has welcomed the introduction of a £2 bus fare cap on services across the UK from 1st January, with several services in West Dorset set to benefit from this scheme due to run until the 31st March 2023.
Chris said “I have worked hard since my election to safeguard our vital bus service network here in West Dorset, and I am pleased that the new £2 bus fare cap is including West Dorset service providers like First. This will mean those who use services like the X53 or Number 6 will benefit from a considerable reduction in their fares – and I encourage as many people as possible to take advantage of this offer.”
It is hoped that the introduction of the new cap will increase bus usage in West Dorset.
Chris continued; “This is a good step in the right direction for encouraging more frequent bus use from local people, safeguarding the existing services we have, and an opportunity for all to make the case for additional service improvements. I encourage everyone to make the most of this opportunity”
