Chris Loder MP welcomed the Health and Social Care Secretary, Victoria Atkins, to Dorset County Hospital on Thursday 16th May. The Health Secretary and West Dorset’s MP were given an on-site overview of the enabling works progressing as part of the New Hospital Programme. Investment worth over £100 million from the Department for Health and Social Care will deliver a new Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit at Dorset County Hospital.
Speaking about the visit, Mr Loder said: “It’s been great to welcome the Health Secretary on a visit to Dorchester’s healthcare facilities. Alongside meeting staff in the newly refurbished, £14 million Outpatient Assessment Centre at South Walks House, we were given a detailed update on enabling works at Dorset County Hospital that will provide state of the art facilities in a few years. The main contractor, Tilbury Douglas, are rapidly advancing the programme and I look forward to seeing the main construction work begin shortly.”
