Dorchester South Station is now one step closer to getting its new lift thanks to the campaigning efforts of local MP Chris Loder. Mr Loder has been pushing the Government to support the ‘Access for All’ funding bid for the train station.
Ministers announced on 24th May that Dorchester South was one of 50 sites selected as part of the scheme to progress through to feasibility study stage, meaning the station is one step closer to being truly accessible with a new lift. The Government lists the support of the local Member of Parliament as being a key factor in the decision by the Government to progress these applications further – something which Chris Loder has championed for several years as Dorchester’s MP.
Chris said: “After having championed the accessibility of Dorchester South since being the MP, I am very pleased to see that at last, this bid is progressing and with continued effort, we should soon have a lift installed to make the station truly accessible for everyone.”
