After much campaigning since his election in 2019, Chris Loder MP has delivered a campaign success with the news that a wide-reaching ban on single-use plastics will come into force from 1st October 2023 in England. The MP for West Dorset has been directly involved in the creation of the Environmental Protection Regulations 2023, which will ban businesses from the supply, sale, and offer of a range of single-use plastics. The local MP said:
“From 1st October, a wide-reaching ban will be implemented on a range of single-use plastics. This includes plates, bowls and trays; cutlery and balloon sticks; and polystyrene food and drinks containers. I've been involved with the passage of this legislation at every stage since its inception, and I’m so glad that it’s being implemented. I’ve been clear that the supply of single-use plastics needs regulation and I continue to urge large firms, such as supermarket, to do more to address their plastic usage - for instance with packaging.”
